Our client, a young DeepTech company (in stealth mode) designing and developing ultra-secure semiconductors for collaborative intelligent systems, is looking for a Network Software Engineer to strengthen their team.
Backed by large investors, guided by semiconductor company CEOs and assisted by research institution TNO, this young company is securing the world's ability to operate through a revolutionary hardware and software innovation on chip-level.
Located in the heart of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, their team unites expertise in semiconductor technology, quantum computing, material properties, national & international security and advanced technologies.
Our client is currently seeking a talented Network Software Engineer to spearhead the development of their proprietary VPN solutions through advanced software-defined networking technologies. This role is perfect for an embedded software engineer with specialized experience in network systems, eager to tackle challenging projects in a highly innovative environment. Your expertise in network protocols, Linux networking, and modern programming languages will play a pivotal role in shaping our client's network infrastructure and enhancing their capabilities.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust VPN software and other network-related solutions using state-of-the-art software-defined networking technologies.
Implement and manage network solutions focusing on switching networks and TCP/IP to ensure efficient and secure data transmission.
Maintain and upgrade existing network systems to improve performance and integrate new functionalities.
Obtain and utilize Cisco CCNA and CCNP Enterprise certifications to enhance network designs and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, propose solutions, and deliver high-quality software that meets the strategic goals of the company.
Apply hands-on expertise in programming with C++, Python, and Rust to develop and optimize network functionalities.
Continuously update technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and external courses, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
Experience & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Network Software Engineer or Embedded Software Engineer with significant networking experience.
Strong background in designing and implementing network software, particularly in software-defined environments.
Expertise in Linux networking, switching networks, and TCP/IP protocols.
Required certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and preferably Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise.
Desirable: PCI Professional (PCIP) Qualification.
Proficient in programming languages such as C++, Python, and Rust.
Medior to senior level experience with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and project execution.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Location (not remote): Science Park, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Salary: Industry-competitive (range given during our intake, stock options possible)
Contract: Full-time, indefinite contract, start ASAP
Team: ~20 FTE team & TNO researchers, ~10 board & advisors, professors involved
